Customer Commitment, Family Stewardship: An Established Tradition

Romanow Container established itself early on as a leader in the corrugated products industry. Founded in 1948 by Allan Romanow, the company soon became an integral partner in the growth and success of many other businesses throughout Greater Boston. Over sixty years later, with its customer base spanning all of New England, Romanow Container – and its customers – continue to benefit from the conceptual ideals upon which the company was founded. Those ideals include...

Absolute dedication and commitment to the customer –

Manifest in Romanow’s customer service and in the quality of its products. Furthermore, this ideal is taught to and practiced by every level of the organization. Romanow recognizes the vital role it plays in the success of its customers’ products, and is continually developing new and innovative ways to better service those customers.

Aggressive investment in resources and equipment.

From an inauspicious beginning in a 5-story turn of the century building in South Boston, Romanow Container has maintained its leading position by investing ahead of its customers’ need: in higher-capacity, more functional production equipment; in larger, state-of-the-art facilities; in the breadth of its solutions; and in control of its supply chain. Examples include:

  • moving Romanow’s manufacturing and corporate headquarters in 1996 to a highly automated facility in Westwood, MA;
  •  investing as one of five founding partner firms in NewCorr, the largest and most efficient corrugated board operation in the Northeast;
  • the 1998 purchase of the former Perry Packaging in Maynard, MA, with its foam, triple wall and specialty packaging capabilities;
  • the 2005 establishment of the Industrial Packaging Division, providing customers with a wide array of standard packaging supplies.
  • the 2006 expansion or our corrugated facility in Westwood MA, which added an additional 78,000 square feet.  Our Westwood facility now totals 215,000 square feet;
  •  the 2011 acquisition of Allied Industries of Holbrook MA, a manufacturer and distributor of corrugated, foam, wood products and industrial packaging supplies.
  • the 2012 construction of a new 105,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Littleton, MA.  This facility enabled us to consolidate both our Maynard and Holbrook facilities under one roof.
  • the 2012 acquisition of Packaging Dynamics of Lawrence MA, a distributor of corrugated, foam and wood packaging products to medical device and technology companies throughout New England.
  • the 2014 acquisition of Streamlined Packaging's Corrugated, Protective Foam and Industrial Packaging Supplies business.
  • the 2015 expansion of our Romanow Packaging facility in Littleton MA which added an additional 57,000 square feet.  Our Littleton facility now totals over 165,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space.

Commitment to being a family business. Since 2001,

the company has been guided by the second generation of the Romanow family: Allan’s three sons – Ted, Dick and Dan. In Romanow’s view, however, every employee and all of its loyal customers are also important parts of this family; and the company’s future success will stem from the care and development of these relationships.
